Add one more voice to a campaign and
tell people about it. Campaigns are no good without voices and noise.
Register your support for a charity working to change animals' lives for the better, e.g. Compassion in World Farming.
| Change the way you live your life & run your home and office. How will your actions impact on the animal kingdom. Offset your carbon emissions when you drive anywhere with Carbon Forestry. Animals are affected by emissions too.

| Stop junk mail coming to your home. (We have, and it makes a heck of a difference to the amount of rubbish you get coming through your postbox)
|
| Change career and
work for an animal charity. Or take the skills you use at work now to work for an animal charity. Offer your professonal services for
free, or a substantially reduced cost. | Get work colleagues involved. Many businesses help local charities every year by
doing practical tasks e.g. painting a building, clearing a field, or
constructing a new path. The company enjoys good PR and everyone gets a chance to do some team-building that's meaningful.
|
Do a charity challenge which pushes your boundaries and helps you achieve a personal goal as well e.g. an Inca Trek
| Raise money by doing a sponsored event for your favourite animal charity - they all need help.
|
Offer your help to
someone for whom an extended hand may mean a great deal, and the
difference between keeping their pet and having to give him or her up.
| Get your kids involved. Kids
love animals, and the dirtier and messier you all get, the more fun
things are. So become a kid again, put your
boots on and go and jump in a few muddy puddles. Have some fun. |
| Watch for wishlists. Many animal
charities have wishlists - e.g. GPS systems, lap tops - which you or your
company could help with. |
| Volunteer your time and energy. Help
a charity - muck-in and lend a paw with anything they need doing. Not
all animal charities will be registered as such, or large. |

Solve a problem!
If you've spotted a problem or something you want to change or sort
out, then put your creativity skills to work. This could mean setting
up a charity, a campaign, a letter to the press...Charities are working to resolve conflict between
people and animals all the time
| Help re-home animals,
rescuing them when they are reported or handed in, and giving them
confidence such that they are able to be re-homed. If you cannot
re-home long term, consider offering a foster home. |
Become a member This is a great way to discover more about the animals you want to help - their lives, the challenges they face and how you can get involved. Give yourself a gift membership, e.g. for the RSPB?
| Shop 'til you drop! Many animal chariities have on-line shops you can buy gifts or goodies in. Make a bee-line for these on-line stores first before you head out of your home and go shopping anywhere else. The RSPB has plenty to offer the birdlover, for instance.

Donate money.
Instead of swapping meaningless presents with friends, make a donation to a charity instead. Get them to do the same for you. Click here for more thoughts.

|
| Do a volunteering holiday.
Have a sabbatical from work. Lots of people do it, so why not you?
Even if you need to postpone for five years, give yourself a deadline
to do it in. | |
|
Tell people what you're doing. Many
people want something more meaningful to do. And spending a day
helping an animal charity can be far life enriching than wandering
around shops.
| If you do the UK's lotto, you can help raise money for greyhounds.
