There's nothing like giving back to boost your feel-good factor and it doesn't have to be all about money. Sometimes it's about spreading the word and adding weight to global campaigns such as Handle with Care, which the WSPA is running to put an end to stop animals suffering horrendously on long journeys to slaughter. And yes, animal charities also need people who are going to be reliable, regular volunteers to help with hands-on care, and who can be on call-out as required to pick up lost-and-found animals or help hand-rear kittens and puppies, or put out a call when an animal is in trouble.
There are a growing number of animal charities who are really seeking to tackle problems at source, such as neutering, providing education and training on animal cruelty in schools, lobbying for legislation, and providing solutions to issues such as elderly owners going into nursing and residential homes. Volunteering for any of them can offer you the chance to make lots of new like-minded friends and make a difference and provide you with a purpose out of work (or even in it) that really will make you feel alive and glowing with contribution and the feel-good factor which comes from volunteering for animals.
